Comelec Davao City Begins Releasing Electoral Board Honoraria
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Davao City’s 3rd District has started distributing the honoraria for members of the electoral board who served in the May 12, 2025 midterm elections. This early release of payments marks a significant improvement compared to previous election cycles.
Electoral board chairpersons will receive P12,000, while poll clerks, third members, and supervising officials from the Department of Education (DESO) are each entitled to P11,000. Technicians are set to get P9,000, and support staff will be paid P8,000. However, recipients should note that these amounts will be subject to a 15 percent tax deduction.
Improved Honoraria and Timely Payments
Despite the tax deductions, the honoraria rates have increased by P2,000 compared to the previous elections. Several teachers expressed satisfaction with the earlier distribution, highlighting it as a positive change from past experiences.
Comelec has reminded all election officers that honoraria payments must be completed within 15 days following the election date. This policy aims to ensure prompt compensation and recognize the efforts of those who contribute to smooth election processes.
Gratitude for Election Personnel’s Service
Comelec Region 11 also extended its appreciation to the Department of Education personnel for their dedication during the election. As one official remarked, “Kami nagapasalamat gyud og dako sa atoang mga teachers sa ilahang mga gikuan gyud nila ilang responsibility nga mahapsay ang atoang elections.” This statement reflects the community’s deep respect for the teachers’ commitment to ensuring orderly elections.
The early release of honoraria and the increased amounts demonstrate a growing recognition of the hard work performed by electoral board members. It also encourages continued participation and responsibility among election workers for future polls.
