Comelec Voter ID Picture Change Request Gains Attention

Jason Abalos Seeks Voter ID Picture Update

Actor Jason Abalos recently made an unusual request to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) after the recent midterm elections held on Monday, May 12. Taking to his Facebook page, he shared his voter registration photo from the official Comelec records, noting how different he looked—much younger in that picture—and suggested it was time for an update.

He asked, “COMELEC Pwede po ba palitan ang picture sa voters ID?” demonstrating a lighthearted tone about the situation. He further explained, “Idol ko po kasi noon si Dirk Nowitzki, suot ko din Dallas jersey naglalaro kami sa plaza naisip ko lang po mag pa register.” This reveals the nostalgic reason behind the old photo.

The Significance of Voter ID Picture Change Request

Jason reflected on those days, saying it was a time when he had no concrete dreams yet. In the comments section of his post, he even joked about hoping voters were informed that their photo would appear on the list, so they could have prepared accordingly: “Sana sinabihan tayo na ipopost nila, pinag handaan sana natin.”

Many netizens resonated with his sentiment. One quipped, “Ung sa amin, mukha kaming casualties ng Battle of Mactan,” while another remarked, “Kamukha mo pala si Benhur Abalos Jason Abalos.” Another added humor by commenting, “Parang nawawalang member ng The Beatles.” These reactions show how common it is for people to feel their voter ID photos don’t quite represent them anymore.

Jason Abalos’ Political Standing After Elections

According to partial unofficial results as of 3:12 PM, Jason is currently placed second among leading candidates for provincial board member of the 2nd district of Nueva Ecija with 101,971 votes. The top spot is held by Dindo Dysico. This isn’t Jason’s first time running; he previously won as a board member of the same district under the PDP-Laban party.

This situation highlights how the voter ID picture change request can spark broader discussions about voter identification and personal representation. Updating such photos could help voters feel more connected and accurately represented during elections.
