Bulacan Police Seize Counterfeit Footwear Valued at P9.09 Million
Authorities successfully confiscated counterfeit footwear valued at P9.09 million during a police operation in Bulacan. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) led the buy-bust operation at a store located in San Jose del Monte, arresting a suspect involved in the illegal trade.
The operation took place last Monday evening, according to officials who provided details on Friday. The suspect, identified only as “Sheryl,” 39 years old, was caught in the act of trading and distributing fake footwear.
Suspect Faces Charges for Intellectual Property Violations
Following her arrest, Sheryl was placed under the custody of the CIDG Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit. She is currently awaiting charges before the National Prosecution Service for alleged violations of Republic Act 8293, also known as the Intellectual Property Code.
Local sources emphasized the significance of the operation in curbing the spread of counterfeit goods, which not only harm legitimate businesses but also deceive consumers.
