Crime Rate Drops 7.75% from August 2024 to June 2025
Authorities reported a 7.75 percent decrease in the crime rate from August 2024 to June 2025 compared to the same period the previous year. This encouraging development was shared by the Philippine National Police chief General Nicolas Torre III during the PNP’s 124th anniversary celebration.
According to officials, crime incidents fell from 192,677 cases recorded between August 2023 and June 2024 to 177,735 cases in the same months of the following year. This decline reflects the impact of intensified police operations nationwide.
Intensified Police Operations Yield Results
General Torre emphasized that the significant drop in crime rates clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of their enhanced anti-criminality campaigns. “Our campaign against illegal drugs remains relentless from July 1, 2022, to Aug. 10, 2025,” he said.
Authorities revealed that over 153,609 police operations have been conducted during this period. These efforts led to the arrest of more than 190,568 individuals and the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at approximately P54.6 billion, sources reported.
Crackdown on Human Trafficking and Scams
Community members noted that the PNP also made strides in dismantling human trafficking networks. Several foreign nationals linked to high-level scams were apprehended with the assistance of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission.
Moreover, anti-kidnapping initiatives uncovered international crime syndicates, particularly involving Chinese nationals, officials added.
Combating Disinformation with New Committee
In response to rising concerns over fake news, the PNP has launched an anti-fake news action committee. This group aims to protect truthful information and quickly counteract disinformation, local leaders explained.
These combined efforts highlight the PNP’s commitment to public safety and justice across the country, underscoring the importance of sustained vigilance and community cooperation.
