Health Risks and Precautions
The Philippine weather agency classifies heat index values between 42°C and 51°C as “dangerous.” This range notably increases the risk of heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged exposure to these conditions can also lead to heatstroke, particularly affecting vulnerable groups like children, elderly citizens, and those with existing health problems.
Local leaders noted the importance of staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat, and seeking immediate medical help if symptoms like dizziness or weakness occur.
