Understanding Dangerous Heat Index Levels
Heat index values ranging from 42°C to 51°C are classified as “dangerous” by weather experts due to the heightened risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged exposure to such intense heat can lead to heatstroke, especially among vulnerable groups like children, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions.
Local authorities urge communities to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seeking cooler environments whenever possible.
