Dave Gomez Sworn In As PCO Secretary
MANILA, Philippines — Veteran journalist and corporate communications expert Dave Gomez took his oath on Friday as the new secretary of the Presidential Communications Office. Gomez pledged to communicate government programs and policies clearly, emphasizing transparency and public trust.
He was officially sworn in by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin at Malacañan Palace. Gomez vowed to promote government transparency, protect press freedom, and uphold every Filipino’s right to free speech.
“Access to information is not a privilege—it’s a cornerstone of accountability and public trust,” Gomez said. He highlighted his commitment to share the programs and policies of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., “minus the politics.” Gomez described this approach as his “3Ps Minus One: Programs, Policies minus Politics.”
Expanding Digital Reach and Commitment
Gomez also shared his vision for the Presidential Communications Office to expand its digital footprint. “We intend to do this by advancing digital transformation within the PCO,” he explained. He recognizes the importance of adapting to new platforms to better reach and inform the public.
Expressing gratitude, Gomez thanked President Marcos for trusting him with the role and promised to serve with “100% commitment and focus.” He also acknowledged the warm welcome from outgoing Secretary Jay Ruiz and his team, appreciating their service to the people.
Gomez is the fifth individual to head the PCO under the current administration, succeeding Trixie Cruz-Angeles, Cheloy Garafil, Cesar Chavez, and Jay Ruiz.
