De La Salle University Laguna Bomb Threat Sparks Swift Response

Bomb Threat Shakes De La Salle University Laguna

De La Salle University Laguna faced a sudden bomb threat on Tuesday afternoon, unsettling the campus community and disrupting normal school activities. Authorities swiftly responded to secure the area and investigate the alarming incident, officials reported.

The bomb threat was reported to local authorities by a faculty member named Douglas Dumanon at approximately 3:35 p.m., sources said. The alarming message was relayed through telephone operator Nicole Evangelista, who received the call from an unidentified female caller. This caller warned that a bomb would detonate around 4:00 p.m. unless a university coach settled an outstanding debt.

Immediate Campus Lockdown and Police Inspection

In response to the bomb threat, the university promptly restricted access to the campus to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff. Authorities conducted thorough inspections in and around the university premises to locate any suspicious items, officials noted.

The swift action involved deployment of the provincial explosive ordinance disposal team along with the canine unit. These units meticulously scanned the campus area for any potential threats, community members said.

Situation Cleared, Safety Measures Reaffirmed

By 6:00 p.m., the provincial explosive ordinance disposal and canine units declared the area safe, confirming no explosives were found. The university officially announced the all-clear, reassuring the campus community that the threat had been resolved.

“The safety of the students and the whole academic community is of utmost importance to the University,” the institution emphasized in its evening statement. “De La Salle University Laguna remains committed to protecting everyone under its care and ensuring a secure environment for learning and growth.” community representatives confirmed.

Authorities Continue Monitoring

Police and campus security continue to monitor the university environment closely following the incident. Investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the bomb threat and the motives behind it, officials shared.

Students and faculty expressed relief after the situation was resolved but remain vigilant as authorities work to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
