Death Toll Rises Amid Southwest Monsoon Impact

According to recent updates from disaster management sources, the death toll from the combined impact of the southwest monsoon and Severe Tropical Storm Crising has climbed to seven. These deaths underscore the severity of the ongoing weather disturbances affecting the country.
Fatalities and Missing Persons Reported Nationwide
One new fatality was recorded in Metro Manila, adding to the previously reported three deaths in Northern Mindanao, and one each in the Davao, Caraga, and Mimaropa regions. Alongside the fatalities, three individuals remain missing in Metro Manila, with one person reported injured. These missing and injured persons are part of the nationwide count of eight missing and seven injured individuals.
Infrastructure and Agricultural Damage Mounts
The recent weather events have caused infrastructure damage estimated at P562.3 million. The Ilocos Region suffered the greatest impact with P314.6 million in damages, followed by Western Visayas with P122.1 million. In agriculture, losses have reached approximately P132.9 million, with the majority occurring in Mimaropa, which reported P112.9 million in damages.
Communities Affected and Ongoing Weather Forecast
Over 1.4 million individuals, or more than 400,000 families, have been affected by the southwest monsoon and tropical storm. Despite ongoing relief efforts, heavy rains are expected to continue across most parts of the country, including Metro Manila, as forecasted by meteorological agencies.
Authorities also note the presence of another tropical cyclone named Dante within the Philippine area of responsibility, which may bring additional weather challenges in the coming days.
