Significant Dengue Cases Drop Nationwide in July 2025
The Department of Health (DOH) announced a 32.83-percent decrease in dengue cases nationwide in July 2025. Despite this encouraging decline in dengue cases, the DOH urged the public to remain vigilant and not become complacent about the disease’s threat.
Between June 22 and July 5, there were 12,166 dengue cases recorded. This number fell sharply to 8,171 cases from July 6 to 19, showing a notable reduction in dengue cases nationwide, according to sources.
DOH Emphasizes Continuous Dengue Prevention Efforts
“The DOH advises the public not to be complacent about the threat of dengue, whether it’s sunny or rainy,” the agency said in Filipino. This reminder highlights the persistent risk dengue poses regardless of weather conditions.
Dengue, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), is a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes. It can cause symptoms such as high fever and severe body aches, and in critical situations, may even lead to death.
Ongoing Dengue Situation and Preventive Measures
Earlier in the year, the DOH reported 123,291 dengue cases nationwide from January 1 to June 7. Given this high number, the department continues to stress the importance of community involvement in controlling the disease.
The DOH reminded the public to regularly clean potential mosquito breeding sites such as stagnant water and cluttered areas. Additionally, WHO recommends proper solid waste management, cleaning water storage containers, and applying suitable insecticides to curb mosquito populations.
These preventive actions remain crucial in reducing dengue transmission and protecting public health.
