DepEd Clarifies False Claims on Senior High School Grade Levels
The Department of Education (DepEd) has firmly rejected social media posts claiming that an extra grade level will be added to senior high school. The misinformation suggested the introduction of a Grade 13 starting in the School Year 2025-2026, sparking confusion among students and parents.
Currently, the senior high school program in the Philippines includes only Grade 11 and Grade 12 as part of the country’s basic education system. No official announcements have been made about extending this structure.
Public Reminder to Verify Official Information
In response, DepEd reminded the public to exercise caution and critically assess information before sharing it. “Muling pinaaalalahanan ng DepEd ang publiko na mag-ingat at maging mapanuri laban sa misinformation. Para sa opisyal na mga anunsiyo at impormasyon tungkol sa basic education, bisitahin lamang ang official DepEd Philippines social media accounts,” the department stated.
Experts and education officials emphasize relying solely on verified sources to avoid spreading false news that could disrupt educational planning.
