Expanded Compulsory Insurance Coverage Implemented
To enhance protection for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), the Department of Migrant Workers has officially launched the expanded insurance coverage for rehires and direct hires. This initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing effort to improve social safety nets, especially following challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Department of Migrant Workers issued this policy based on Department Order No. 228, Series of 2021, released by the Department of Labor and Employment. Complementing it is Memorandum Circular No. 10, Series of 2022, which provides detailed implementation guidelines. This marks a major step forward in ensuring that Filipino workers abroad receive sufficient coverage throughout their employment.
Insurance Providers Accredited for OFW Protection
To ensure broad access and effective implementation, several insurance companies have been authorized to offer the enhanced coverage. The Insurance Commission has accredited the following providers:
Non-Life Insurance Company | Partner Life Insurance Company |

Paramount Life & General Insurance Corporation | Fortune Life Insurance Company Inc. |
Fortune General Insurance Corporation | Pioneer Life Inc. |
