DHSUD Commits to Full Digitalization of Services
The Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) is set to fully digitalize its services, promising faster and more convenient transactions for its clients and partners. This move comes under the leadership of the newly appointed housing secretary, Jose Ramon P. Aliling, who took over following a cabinet reshuffle initiated by President Marcos.
Aliling emphasized that the department will undergo a comprehensive overhaul to streamline and modernize its processes. “After we streamline and standardize all the processes, we will push for the implementation of our digitalization program. The DHSUD will be fully digitalized before the end of President Marcos,” he assured. To achieve this, a Technical Working Group (TWG) comprising key stakeholders will be established to examine and improve existing procedures.
Focus on Transparency and Anti-Corruption Efforts
Aside from digital transformation, the new secretary stressed a firm stance against corruption within the agency. “We will implement zero tolerance on corruption, we will make the DHSUD the most transparent and efficient in the government,” he stated. This pledge highlights the department’s dedication to enhancing accountability and public trust.
Enhancing the Mass Housing Program
Aliling also guaranteed that the mass housing program will not only continue but will be expanded and improved. He introduced the concept of “horizontal development,” referring to the foundational infrastructure such as roads, utilities, and site preparation, which must be prioritized before vertical construction begins.
“We will prioritize the preparation of the guidelines for horizontal developments. In doing this, we can expect mass housing numbers to improve significantly,” he explained. This approach aims to create better living environments by ensuring essential services and infrastructure are in place before building homes.
Local experts note that these steps could accelerate housing projects and improve quality of life for many Filipinos, reflecting a more efficient and transparent DHSUD.
