Dial 911 for Police Assistance Across the Philippines
KORONADAL CITY – Philippine National Police chief General Nicolas Torre III urges everyone to dial 911 for police assistance anywhere in the country. He emphasized that the 911 hotline is the fastest way to get police help during emergencies, distress, or when reporting crimes.
“To our fellow citizens, if you have a cell phone, call 911. Any town in the Philippines, call 911 and you will be connected,” Torre said, urging people in urgent situations to use the 911 emergency number. This call system is designed to provide rapid and compassionate police response during critical moments.
Swift Response Strategy Through 911 Hotline
General Torre highlighted that the police force is now actively implementing a five-minute response time strategy via 911. This means that once a call is made, police units will arrive within five minutes to provide immediate assistance. Torre assured the public that there is no longer a need to memorize different police station numbers across towns.
“Just remember one number, 911, and somebody will answer you and will connect you to that station,” he explained. Whether you live in Koronadal, Banga, Tupi, Tantangan, Lutayan, Malungon, or Kidapawan, calling 911 will route your call to the appropriate local police station promptly.
Real-Time Monitoring and Successful Arrests
The police chief shared an incident from three days ago when a 911 call came from Panabo City during a gun firing simulation exercise at Camp Crame, the national police headquarters. The command center monitored the live police operation in real time, which led to the arrest of a suspect carrying firearms and illegal drugs.
“I am confident the 911 system works,” Torre stated, encouraging the public to rely on this system instead of searching for police at precincts. Through 911, law enforcers will respond swiftly and efficiently.
Visible Police Presence and Community Cooperation
In recent weeks, police officers in Koronadal have been highly visible in strategic locations with patrol cars, following Torre’s directive to respond to emergencies within five minutes. The PNP chief stressed that peace and development go hand in hand, as economic growth flourishes when law and order are firmly maintained.
“Economic activities thrive when law and order are firmly in place,” Torre said. He also called on the public to cooperate in maintaining peace and order, emphasizing that law enforcement cannot succeed without community support.
Vision for a Unified and Safe Philippines
Under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s leadership, the PNP envisions “a Bagong Pilipinas where no community is left behind and where peace and development walk hand in hand,” Torre added as he spoke at the 59th foundation anniversary and the 26th T’nalak festival of South Cotabato, proudly acknowledging his roots as a native of the province.
