DOH Declares Code White Alert Amid Tropical Storm Crising
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has activated a Code White Alert at its operations center due to the approaching Tropical Storm Crising. This precautionary move aims to ensure readiness as the storm impacts various parts of Luzon.
The DOH issued the alert as Crising is forecasted to make landfall in Northern Cagayan by Friday evening. The declaration means that health services are on high alert to address any emergencies caused by the storm.
Preparedness Measures Under Code White Alert
Under the Code White Alert, the DOH Operations Center is mobilizing vital medical supplies, including medicines and equipment. Health Emergency Response Teams are also on standby, ready to support the regions expected to face the brunt of the typhoon, sources said.
In addition, the National Emergency Hotline 911 and local emergency numbers remain active to assist those in need. “Ang 911 at mga lokal na hotline ay handang tumugon sa mga nangangailangan,” local officials noted.
Tropical Storm Crising’s Current Status
According to the latest bulletin from meteorological authorities, Tropical Storm Crising is nearing Northern Cagayan, located about 135 kilometers east of Aparri. The storm carries maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour with gusts reaching up to 105 kilometers per hour.
It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, prompting vigilance and preparedness among affected communities. Local leaders emphasized the importance of staying informed and following safety protocols during the storm’s approach.
