DOH Job Fair Opens with Over 1,800 Vacancies
The Department of Health (DOH) is inviting Filipino health workers to apply at its nationwide DOH job fair, offering more than 1,800 job vacancies. This event runs from June 23 to June 27, 2025, marking the DOH’s 127th anniversary. The job fair aims to fill critical roles in public health facilities and ease the country’s shortage of healthcare professionals.
According to local leaders, the DOH job fair provides an opportunity for applicants to join the public health sector and contribute to the nation’s health system. In Metro Manila, the fair launched at SM Grand Central in Caloocan City, with simultaneous events across various regions.
Health Workers Needed Nationwide
Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa emphasized that the DOH job fair is more than a recruitment drive. “These are a chance to wake up each day knowing that your work is saving lives,” he said. He stressed the vital role of health workers in turning the government’s vision for universal health care into reality.
“We need you. We need people who are ready to serve,” Herbosa added, noting how the pandemic revealed severe understaffing in many health facilities. He explained that many areas still lack access to basic health services due to insufficient health workers, especially in socially disadvantaged and geographically isolated communities.
He also pointed out that around 190,000 healthcare workers were needed in 2024 to bridge gaps in the system. The shortage of nurses and doctors has been a long-standing issue, with estimates from 2013 projecting that resolving it would take decades.
Tackling Brain Drain and Supporting Workers
Herbosa acknowledged that many Filipino health workers seek jobs abroad for better pay and security. “Just like any of us, they are also looking out for their families, and we can’t blame them,” he said. Still, each departure creates gaps in the healthcare industry, particularly in underserved areas.
One of the DOH’s key priorities under the current administration is to protect health workers’ rights and improve their welfare. “We want a workforce that is not only sufficient in number but also well-supported and respected,” Herbosa stated. Efforts include offering fair compensation, better working conditions, and investing in professional development.
Programs are being reviewed to enhance deployment, increase scholarships, and provide upskilling opportunities. These moves aim to make public health careers more sustainable and attractive over the long term.
Available Positions and Salary Ranges
The DOH job fair features various roles with competitive salaries. Medical officers (doctors) are among the top vacancies, earning between ₱70,000 and ₱87,000 monthly. Occupational therapists can expect pay from ₱30,000 up to ₱78,000, while speech therapists earn between ₱30,000 and ₱40,000.
