DOJ Officials Awarded Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Ranks
Three Department of Justice (DOJ) officials have recently been appointed as officers in the executive squadron of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. This recognition reflects their ongoing collaboration in enhancing maritime law enforcement and training programs.
DOJ Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes T. Andres and Assistant Secretary Eliseo D.C. Cruz were each honored with the rank of auxiliary rear admiral. Meanwhile, Vanya Ysabel M. Maneja-Kharazmi, the Planning and Management Service Director, was given the rank of auxiliary commodore.
The ceremony, which included the donning of ranks and oath-taking, took place on May 12 at the Philippine Coast Guard headquarters in Manila.
Strengthening Training and Collaboration Efforts
Both Undersecretary Andres and Assistant Secretary Cruz oversee the DOJ’s Law Enforcement Cluster, which has been instrumental in conducting the Training and Educational Program for Law Enforcement Officers (TEPLEO). This program involved around 200 Philippine Coast Guard officers and personnel.
Director Kharazmi also plays a key role as one of the main implementers of TEPLEO, contributing to the development of training initiatives that aim to improve operational efficiency within the Coast Guard.
Local authorities note that these appointments underscore the growing partnership between the DOJ and the Philippine Coast Guard to ensure peace, order, and security throughout the country.
Remarks from the Philippine Coast Guard
The Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan, expressed his appreciation for the DOJ officials’ dedication. He said their involvement in the training program “is a testament to the stronger ties and collaboration between the DOJ and the PCG aimed to maintain peace, order and security in the country.”
Ongoing Support for Law Enforcement Training
According to community leaders familiar with the matter, the DOJ plans to continue supporting the Philippine Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies through the Training and Educational Program for DOJ Prosecutors and Law Enforcement Agents (TEPLEA). This initiative seeks to reinforce government collaboration for more effective justice administration.
This effort aligns with the current administration’s vision for a renewed and progressive Philippines under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
