DOLE Invests in Skills Development in Clark Freeport Zone
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has committed P207.5 million to enhance the skills of over 30,000 workers in the Clark Freeport Zone. This major economic hub will benefit from advanced training programs designed to meet emerging industry demands.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma spearheaded the program launch on May 28 during the “Alay sa Manggagawa” event. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) also sealed a deed of usufruct to establish the Regional TVET Innovation Center (RTIC).
Regional TVET Innovation Center to Drive Industry Growth
Once operational, the RTIC will provide specialized courses in robotics, mechatronics, and smart healthcare technologies. These programs aim to support Clark’s transformation into an innovation-driven economic zone, equipping workers with future-ready skills.
Upgraded One-Stop Processing Center Streamlines Services
The event also celebrated the opening of the enhanced One-Stop Processing Center (OSPC) at the Clark Skills and Training Center. The center simplifies access to government services for workers, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and nearby residents, improving efficiency and support.
Strengthening Labor-Management Cooperation
To foster industrial peace, CDC and the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) signed a memorandum of agreement. This partnership strengthens cooperation between labor and management within the Freeport area, promoting harmony and productivity.
Expanding Healthcare Access in Clark
Officials also inspected the upcoming Pampanga Provincial Hospital in Clark Global City, a joint project by the provincial government, Department of Health (DOH), and CDC. The hospital aims to broaden healthcare availability for the growing population in the area.
Among the key figures present were TESDA Director General Jose Francisco Benitez, CDC President and CEO Agnes Devanadera, DOLE Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio, and Pampanga Governor-elect Lilia “Nanay” Pineda.
