DOLE Provides P200,000 Livelihood Assistance to Micro Enterprises
A total of 10 micro enterprises in Nueva Vizcaya have been granted P200,000 in livelihood assistance by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to help sustain their operations and boost income at the community level. This livelihood aid aims to support small businesses in maintaining their activities and growing their earnings.
According to reports from the DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office, beneficiaries hailed from the municipalities of Diadi, Dupax del Sur, Kasibu, and Villaverde. They received support through the Department’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), which focuses on helping family-run ventures such as snack vendors, bakers, small eateries, and tutorial services.
Selection Criteria and Support Programs
The chosen recipients were carefully selected based on their need for working capital and their compliance with labor standards and occupational safety and health regulations, local experts said. This ensures that assistance goes to businesses that are both deserving and adhere to important safety and labor rules.
Elizabeth U. Martinez, head of the DOLE-Nueva Vizcaya Field Office and herself a small business operator, emphasized the importance of the Business and Work Improvement Course (BWIC). This program equips beneficiaries with practical skills to manage risks and improve their business productivity.
“There will be ups and downs, but with hard work and determination, success is achievable,” Martinez remarked.
Impact of the Integrated Livelihood Program
The Integrated Livelihood Program is one of DOLE’s flagship initiatives designed to uplift vulnerable sectors by strengthening community-based enterprises. It promotes sustainable livelihood opportunities across the country, especially for those running micro and small businesses.
By providing financial assistance and training, the program aims to foster economic growth at the grassroots level and improve the quality of life for beneficiaries and their families.
