DPWH Calls for Faster Project Implementation
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently urged its engineers and officials to embrace innovative methods and speed up project implementation. This move supports the Marcos administration’s infrastructure program under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda. The call was made during the 2025 Midyear National Convention of the District Engineers League of the Philippines, Inc. (DELP).
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan emphasized the vital role of engineers in driving economic growth by ensuring projects are completed on time and meet high standards. “The challenges ahead demand boldness and commitment from our engineers who carry the mandate of transforming the nation’s landscape through quality and timely projects,” he said in his keynote address.
Strategies to Enhance Efficiency and Accountability
The convention also marked the 20th founding anniversary of DELP, bringing together district engineers, regional directors, and senior officials from DPWH. The gathering focused on sharing effective strategies to hasten project completion while maintaining transparency and accountability.
Secretary Bonoan highlighted the importance of integrating modern construction technologies and engineering innovations. These tools will improve the department’s ability to deliver efficient, durable, and sustainable infrastructure across the country. “Technology should empower our engineers, enabling them to lead the path toward a more resilient and progressive nation,” he added.
Support and Collaboration Among Stakeholders
Among the attendees were key figures such as the chairperson of the House Committee on Public Works and Highways and other stakeholders from various regions. The event was organized by the DELP National Executive Board, led by its president, with backing from the National Capital Region chapter.
In closing, Secretary Bonoan reminded engineers of the deeper significance of their work: “We’re not just building roads —we’re paving hope. We’re not just building bridges —we’re connecting dreams.” This message reinforced the mission to contribute not only to infrastructure but also to the nation’s collective future.
