Driver Arrested for Estafa in Quezon Bukidnon
A 38-year-old driver wanted for three counts of estafa in Quezon Bukidnon was apprehended by authorities on June 14 in Barangay Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. This arrest occurred just three days after he returned to his wife’s hometown.
The driver, originally from Bulacan, faced charges under Republic Act 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The arrest warrant was issued by a judge from the Regional Trial Court Branch 45 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, dated November 24, 2022.
Bail Set for Multiple Estafa Charges
The court assigned bail amounts of ₱10,000, ₱28,000, and ₱30,000 for each of the three estafa counts, respectively. Police reports shared that the driver is expected to post bail on June 16 and subsequently return to Quezon town to face the allegations against him.
Police Capt. Sammy Gasataya, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, explained that the case originated from a misunderstanding involving an unsettled debt between the suspect and his aunt. Despite the charges, the suspect maintains his version of the events.
Third Most Wanted in Quezon Municipality
Local authorities also identified the driver as the third most wanted individual in the municipality of Quezon. His arrest brings relief to the community as law enforcement continues to pursue individuals involved in fraud-related offenses.
