Driver Released After Posting Bail
The driver involved in the fatal car crash at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has been released after posting bail, the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group confirmed. The release followed an order from the Regional Trial Court in Pasay City.
The accused posted a cash bond of Php100,000 for provisional liberty. Following a medical and physical examination at Pasay City General Hospital, which showed no external injuries, the driver was turned over to his live-in partner.
Details of the Fatal NAIA Car Crash
On May 4, a 47-year-old man from Batangas lost control of his SUV and crashed into the Departure West Curbside Area of NAIA Terminal 1. The collision resulted in two fatalities and several injuries.
Authorities at NAIA Police Station 1 promptly arrested the suspect at the scene. Subsequent tests showed that the driver was negative for alcohol and drugs.
Legal Charges and Investigation
The driver now faces criminal charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and property damage under the Revised Penal Code. The case is still ongoing as authorities continue their investigation.
