DSWD Adjusts Start of 4Ps Educational Compliance Monitoring

DSWD Announces New Schedule for 4Ps Educational Compliance Monitoring

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently confirmed that the monitoring of education compliance and the release of related cash grants under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will now begin in June. This adjustment aligns with the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. According to sources familiar with the matter, this change accommodates the Department of Education’s (DepEd) updated school calendar for the same academic year.

The 4Ps educational compliance monitoring ensures that cash grants are distributed during months when children are actively attending school. This approach follows the 4Ps Act of 2019, which limits education grants to a maximum of 10 months per child annually. As a result, the program aims to maximize the support provided to beneficiary families.

How the 4Ps Educational Compliance Monitoring Will Work

The upcoming compliance period corresponds to Pay Period 3, covering June and July. Under the 4Ps, beneficiaries receive monthly education grants based on the student’s level: P300 for elementary pupils, P500 for junior high school students, and P700 for senior high school learners. To qualify, children between ages three and eighteen must be enrolled in school and maintain at least 85 percent class attendance.

During Pay Period 2 of 2025, which spans April to May, beneficiaries will only receive health grants, rice subsidies, and the First 1000 Days cash grants. This period coincides with the student vacation, so education grants will not be disbursed then. The First 1000 Days grant benefits pregnant women or households with children aged zero to two.

Additional Support Provided to 4Ps Beneficiaries

Launched in 2008 and institutionalized by Republic Act 11310 in 2019, the 4Ps serves as the government’s flagship poverty reduction and human capital investment program. It offers conditional cash transfers to eligible poor households for up to seven years to boost children’s health, nutrition, and education outcomes.

Currently, each beneficiary household receives a monthly health and nutrition grant of P750, plus a monthly rice subsidy of P600. Pregnant women and families with children under two years old also receive an extra P350 monthly health grant.

This revised schedule for 4Ps educational compliance monitoring reflects the government’s commitment to effectively supporting poor families while adapting to changes in the education system. Community leaders said these changes will help ensure that grants reach families when children are in school, thereby encouraging consistent attendance and better learning outcomes.
