DSWD Expands Medical Aid to 22 More Hospitals
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has expanded its medical aid program by partnering with 22 additional hospitals, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and assistive device distributors. This move enhances the acceptance of guarantee letters (GLs), providing wider access to critical assistance for beneficiaries across the country, officials reported.
Beneficiaries of DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program receive medical, burial, transportation, education, food, or financial aid through department-issued GLs. This expansion ensures more institutions now accept these guarantees, making it easier for those in need to access services without upfront payments.
New Hospital Partners Accepting Guarantee Letters
Local leaders noted that the newly accredited hospitals accepting GLs include key medical centers in Metro Manila and nearby areas. These are:
- Allied Care Experts Medical Center (ACEMC) – Mandaluyong
- Allied Care Experts Medical Center (ACEMC) – Valenzuela
- Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC)
- Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center (CHMC)
- Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH)
- Medical Center Manila (ManilaMed)
- Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC)
- Philippine Orthopedic Center (POC)
- Valenzuela Medical Center (VMC)
Pharmaceutical and Therapy Partners Join the Program
Officials reported that several pharmaceutical companies have also joined the guarantee letter acceptance network. These include:
- CGD Medical Depot, Inc.
- E Chi’mes Pharmaceutical, Inc.
- Generika Drugstore
- GetMeds Philippines, Inc.
- Jackpharma, Inc.
- MG Health Solutions (MedGrocer)
- Vital Health Pharmaceutical Corporation
- 2MG Inc.
Moreover, therapy and learning centers such as Grow Center for Therapy and Learning Programs and Leap of Grace Learning Center are now part of the partnership, expanding support for rehabilitation and educational needs.
Additional Support from Implant and Dialysis Providers
Community members said that implant distributors Basemed Kare Inc. and Orthohub Philippines Corp., along with dialysis provider B Braun Avitum Philippines Inc., have also joined the program. This inclusion broadens medical assistance to cover implants and dialysis treatments for AICS beneficiaries.
Plans to Automate Assistance Processes
DSWD officials revealed plans to automate the AICS program, covering dispensing and billing procedures. This digital upgrade aims to provide faster, more convenient service delivery through clients’ mobile devices and ensure timely payments to partner institutions.
Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian emphasized, “Our objective is not only to facilitate swift and convenient service dispensing through our clients’ handheld devices, but also to ensure timely bill payments, so that we can pay you on time.”
Impact of the AICS Program
According to sources, the AICS program has already assisted over 6.2 million individuals in the first half of 2025 alone. The continuous expansion of partner institutions accepting guarantee letters reinforces the department’s commitment to being a channel of hope for Filipinos facing crises.
“Through this collaboration, we continue to be channels of hope for those going through traumatic and crippling situations, aiding them with vital support so they can cope and get through their crises,” Secretary Gatchalian added.
