DSWD Adds 23 New Service Providers
The Department of Social Welfare and Development is expanding its support network by including 23 new service providers to honor guarantee letters issued to Filipinos in need of medical assistance. This move strengthens the reach of the department’s crucial health aid programs.
Officials reported that the new partners comprise hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medical suppliers, and distributors of assistive devices. These additions will help ensure that beneficiaries receive the medical services guaranteed under the department’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program.
Memorandum of Agreement to Formalize Partnership
The agency will formalize this expansion by signing a memorandum of agreement with the new service providers. The signing ceremony is scheduled for Saturday and will be led by Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian along with other senior officials.
Local leaders noted that this partnership will allow clients who secured guarantee letters through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) to access the necessary medical treatments from these new providers without delay.
Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations Program
The Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program remains a flagship initiative of the department, offering vital support such as medical, burial, transportation, education, food, and financial aid to those assessed as being in crisis by state social workers.
Community members said that the program’s expansion through additional service providers is a welcome development, as it broadens the options for beneficiaries to receive timely medical help despite financial hardships.
Ensuring Aid Reaches More Filipinos
“Expanding our network of partners is always welcomed as a significant step in ensuring that our aid reaches as many crisis-hit kababayans as possible,” a spokesperson conveyed. “Every new partner means one more place where our clients can meet their medical needs despite their financial constraints.”
This initiative reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to strengthening social welfare services and improving access to healthcare for vulnerable Filipinos nationwide.
