Dump Truck Accident Claims Life at Pasig Construction Site

Tragic Dump Truck Accident at Pasig Construction Site

A tragic incident unfolded at the old Pasig City Hall construction site in Barangay San Nicolas, Pasig City, when a 15-year-old boy was accidentally hit and run over by a dump truck driven by his own father. This unfortunate event occurred on Thursday, May 22.

According to reports from sources familiar with the matter, the father was operating the dump truck within the construction area when he suddenly felt the rear tires roll over something. Concerned, he immediately stopped the vehicle and checked the back. To his horror, he discovered that the truck had run over his son.

Without hesitation, the father called for help from a nearby co-worker, who quickly alerted the authorities. Emergency responders from the Pasig Emergency Unit (PEU) arrived promptly at the scene. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the boy was declared dead at the site.

Investigation and Response from Authorities

The father was detained and taken to the Vehicle Traffic Investigation Unit (VTIU) for further questioning. Local officials and emergency personnel were deployed to the construction site to manage the situation and offer assistance to the grieving family.

Meanwhile, the Pasig City Government has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway. The Philippine National Police-Pasig City Police Station is leading the inquiry in coordination with the Pasig City Hall Construction Consortium (PCHCC). Community leaders have emphasized the importance of reviewing current safety protocols.

In a statement, city officials stressed, “A mandatory review of the existing safety measures will be required from the PCHCC to ensure that an incident like this will not happen again.” They further added, “Rest assured that this is taken seriously and that safety within the construction site remains of utmost priority.”

Heightened Safety Measures to Prevent Future Incidents

This heartbreaking case shines a spotlight on the critical need for stringent safety practices at construction sites. Authorities are now reviewing all safety regulations and protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The Pasig City Government has pledged continuous support to the victim’s family and is committed to enforcing stricter safety standards. Local experts believe that enhanced training for machinery operators and clear safety zones could help reduce the risk of accidents.

As the investigation continues, the community remains hopeful that measures will be implemented swiftly to safeguard workers and residents around construction sites.
