Duterte Family Sweeps Davao City Election
The Duterte family continues to hold a commanding lead in their stronghold of Davao City as all five members running for government positions are poised to win in the 2025 elections. This dominance is evident in the partial and unofficial results, with a large portion of votes already counted.
Despite being detained in The Hague, former President Rodrigo Duterte leads the mayoral race by a wide margin, holding 646,275 votes. His closest rival, Atty. Karlo Nograles, trails far behind with just 79,750 votes. This significant lead virtually guarantees Rodrigo’s return as mayor.
Vice Mayor and Congressional Wins
Meanwhile, incumbent Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, Rodrigo’s son, is also expected to secure the vice mayor position comfortably, having garnered 635,224 votes. His nearest competitor, 1st district councilor Bernie Al-Ag, has only 77,813 votes so far.
In the congressional race, Rodrigo’s eldest son, Congressman Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, is on track for reelection as the 1st district representative with 199,114 votes. He leads House Deputy Majority Leader Margarita “Migs” Nograles, who has collected 48,187 votes.
Next Generation Duterte Candidates
Adding to the family’s stronghold, Pulong’s two sons are also leading in their respective races. Omar Duterte is set to become the 2nd district representative, having received 160,388 votes. At the same time, Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II is ahead in the councilor race for the 1st district with 188,324 votes.
With 97.70% of election returns processed in Davao City, nearly 759,000 voters participated out of 1,006,592 registered. This widespread voter turnout further solidifies the Duterte family’s dominance in local government positions for Eleksyon 2025.
