Duterte Leads Race in Davao City Mayoralty
Former President Rodrigo Duterte is currently leading the mayoral race in Davao City during the 2025 elections held on Monday, May 12. According to the latest partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections, Duterte has garnered 637,091 votes. His closest rival, Karlo Alexei Nograles, trails far behind with 78,505 votes.
These numbers come from 96.16 percent of election returns already processed, totaling 748,031 votes counted so far. Other candidates for mayor include Bishop Rod Cubos with 7,572 votes, Jonathan Julaine with 1,290, and Joselito Tan with 1,066 votes.
Despite currently being detained at the International Criminal Court penitentiary in The Hague, Duterte remains a strong contender in the mayoral race.
Vice Mayoral Race Shows Duterte’s Family Leading
In the race for vice mayor, Duterte’s son, Baste Duterte, is ahead with 628,578 votes. He is followed by Bernie Al-Ag with 76,858 votes, Oyie Soriano-Barcena with 5,067, and Marcos Alcebar with 1,860 votes.
Congressional Seats Also Favored by Duterte’s Kin
The competition for congressional seats in Davao City also shows Duterte’s family in the lead. His son Paolo, also known as Pulong, dominates the First District with 196,537 votes. Trailing behind are Migs Nograles with 47,568 votes, Mags Maglana with 3,220, Janeth Jabines with 1,750, and Rex Labis with 313 votes.
Meanwhile, Duterte’s grandson, Omar, who is Paolo’s son, leads the Second District congressional race with 160,086 votes. His closest competitor, Javi Garcia Campos, follows with 90,005 votes, and Melogen Montesclaros has 1,824 votes.
