Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte has raised eyebrows by claiming that police forces have been deployed in his area, accusing them of “harassing” his family. The drama escalated quickly when the Philippine National Police (PNP) stepped forward to deny these allegations.
According to Duterte, 90 personnel from the Special Action Force (SAF) and 30 from the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrived straight from Luzon. He didn’t mince words, condemning their actions as a clear case of harassment against his family.
“It’s painful to see those sworn to uphold the law be blinded—not by justice, but by money,” Duterte said, hinting at deeper issues within the ranks.
He lamented how the true criminals seem overlooked, while some higher-ranking officials have apparently sold their integrity. The lawmaker didn’t stop there — he warned those allegedly involved.
“Let me be clear: we are documenting everything and naming names. When the time comes, you won’t answer to us but to the forces of justice you have betrayed. You won’t face people with money; you’ll face those who stand their ground.”
But at a recent press briefing, PNP’s spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo revealed that CIDG chief Police Major General Nicolas Torre III denied any operation in Davao.
“He denied that they had any operation in Davao. So we don’t know where our honorable congressman got this information that CIDG personnel were conducting operations here,” Fajardo said.
Torre reportedly has no knowledge of any such operation.
The clash of claims leaves many wondering: What really is happening in Davao? Is this a case of political theater or a sign of deeper conflicts beneath the surface? The story is far from over.
