Early Sunday Seizure: P20M Illegal Drugs Confiscated in Davao

Early Sunday Seizure Shakes Davao Drug Trade

Authorities seized about P20 million worth of illegal drugs in Davao City early Sunday, June 8, during a carefully planned operation. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) led the raid targeting a suspected drug hub, highlighting their continued fight against illegal substances.

The early Sunday seizure took place around 5 a.m. at a residential unit in Emily Homes, Cabantian. NBI Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (SEMRO XI) operatives, under Regional Director Arcelito C. Albao, coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XI to carry out the pre-dawn strike.

Massive Haul Includes Meth and Kush

Officials recovered 1.575 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, valued at roughly P17.325 million. In addition, 4.885 kilograms of kush worth approximately P5.86 million were confiscated. Various cannabis-based products also surfaced, alongside other drug-related paraphernalia.

Among the items seized were Big Chief Guava live resin, Sluggers HIT disposable vapes, heat sealers, and repackaging equipment. Investigators also found food delivery boxes from services like Foodpanda and Maxim, which were used as a disguise to conceal the drug distribution.

Covert Operation Uncovered Under Delivery Cover

The NBI revealed that the illegal operation was disguised as a routine delivery service, making the early Sunday seizure a critical disruption to a covert drug network. According to sources, the raid was triggered by a credible tip-off from an informant who noticed the residential unit being used for repacking and distributing drugs.

“This operation reinforces NBI SEMRO XI’s unwavering commitment to combating illegal activities through intelligence-driven law enforcement and inter-agency cooperation,” the agency stated. They emphasized the importance of collaboration in dismantling such criminal activities.

Arrests and Further Investigations

While the NBI did not disclose the identities of those arrested, officials confirmed that the operation dealt a significant blow to the local drug trade in Davao. Authorities continue to investigate the network behind the illicit activities to prevent further distribution.

This early Sunday seizure demonstrates the power of intelligence and community cooperation in fighting illegal drugs. Local leaders noted the importance of these efforts in protecting communities from the dangers of narcotics.
