Widespread Rainfall Expected Across Philippines
The easterlies and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) are set to bring rain nationwide Wednesday afternoon, officials reported. These weather systems will cause scattered showers and thunderstorms in several key regions, signaling a wet day for many communities.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the easterlies and ITCZ will be the main drivers of the expected rainfall nationwide Wednesday. This means that residents should prepare for wet conditions and possible weather disruptions.
Regions Under Scattered Rains and Thunderstorms
Pagasa’s 4 p.m. advisory highlighted that scattered rains and thunderstorms will affect Western Visayas, Negros Island, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Palawan due to the ITCZ. Community members in these areas are urged to stay alert for sudden weather changes.
Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over the Bicol Region, Quezon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar province, and Biliran. Local leaders noted that these areas should expect intermittent rainfall and potential thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.
Isolated Showers Over Mindanao and Metro Manila
The ITCZ is also forecasted to cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across the rest of Mindanao. Additionally, Metro Manila and other parts of the country will experience rain brought by the easterlies, officials reported.
These weather patterns may lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas. Residents are advised to monitor updates and heed any flood warnings issued by authorities.
Low-Pressure Area East of Luzon and Flood Advisories
At 3 p.m., a low-pressure area was estimated about 855 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon, according to weather experts. While it is not expected to directly affect the country immediately, its presence contributes to the unstable weather conditions nationwide Wednesday.
Furthermore, a moderate flood advisory has been issued over Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Davao Region. Community members said they should remain vigilant and prepared for possible flooding in these areas.
