EDSA Busway North Avenue Station Rehabilitation Plans Revealed
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has revealed the design plans for the rehabilitation of the EDSA Busway North Avenue Station in Quezon City. This initiative aims to enhance commuter experience by providing more accessible and convenient transportation options along this critical route.
In a recent announcement, DOTr shared visual designs showcasing the future look of the North Avenue Station once rehabilitation is completed next year. These improvements respond directly to the President’s directive to upgrade public transport facilities for Filipino commuters.
Phased Rehabilitation Approach for EDSA Busway Stations
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon confirmed that Phases 1 and 2 of the EDSA Busway rehabilitation will begin this year and are scheduled for completion by next year. The North Avenue Station is part of Phase 1, which also covers three other existing stations: Monumento, Bagong Barrio, and Guadalupe.
Meanwhile, Phase 2 focuses on constructing new busway stations at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and Cubao. Each phase carries a budget exceeding P200 million, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving mass transit infrastructure.
Modern Features to Boost Commuter Convenience
The redesigned North Avenue Station will feature upgraded facilities aimed at enhancing comfort and accessibility for passengers. These include wider platforms, improved passenger information systems, and better connectivity to other transport modes.
Local authorities noted that these changes will help reduce congestion and streamline passenger flow, making daily commutes smoother and safer.
Looking Ahead: Transforming Manila’s Public Transport
The EDSA Busway rehabilitation is part of a broader effort to modernize Manila’s transportation network. The DOTr’s plan to revamp key stations highlights the government’s dedication to creating a more efficient and commuter-friendly public transport system.
As these projects advance, commuters can expect a more reliable and accessible busway experience, contributing to eased traffic conditions along EDSA.
