Election-related incidents and fatalities overview
Since the election period began on January 12 for the May 2025 midterm polls, a total of 13 people have died in 49 validated election-related incidents, the Philippine National Police reported. These numbers highlight the ongoing challenges faced during the election period despite efforts to maintain peace.
Among the fatalities, four occurred in the Cordillera Administrative Region, three were reported in the Zamboanga Peninsula, and two in the Cagayan Valley. Additionally, the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao each recorded one death related to election incidents.

So far, authorities have arrested only three suspects connected to these cases, while 44 others remain at large. Most of the election-related incidents involved shooting, with 25 cases confirmed. Other incidents included strafing, threats, harassment, explosions, kidnappings with homicide, mauling, and grenade attacks.
Besides the validated cases, the police have reported 86 suspected election-related incidents that are currently undergoing verification. On Election Day alone, 27 incidents were recorded.
