Emergency Housing Assistance Program Supports Bohol Families
In a significant relief effort, 391 families in Sierra Bullones, Bohol received P5,000 each through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program. This initiative, led by the National Housing Authority (NHA), aims to provide immediate financial help to those whose homes were damaged by recent natural disasters.
The Emergency Housing Assistance Program is a vital support system designed to aid families affected by typhoons, floods, earthquakes, and fires. Officials reported that thousands of beneficiaries in Bohol have already been helped by this program. For instance, during a recent event in Carmen town, 1,412 residents were granted P10,000 each under the same assistance scheme.
Aligning with Social Equity and Resilience Goals
This program complements the provincial government’s Strategic Change Agenda, particularly its Social Equity and Human Development pillar. Local leaders noted that the agenda focuses on expanding protection and resilience measures to vulnerable communities across Bohol.
Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, alongside his wife and 2nd District Representative Vanessa Aumentado, has been actively promoting housing projects such as the “Balay sa Paglaum” program. This initiative, in partnership with the Bohol Provincial Police Office, envisions building safe and disaster-resilient homes for families at risk. It aligns closely with the NHA’s mission to ensure secure shelter for all citizens.
Local Officials Support Housing Aid Distribution
The distribution event in Sierra Bullones on September 4 drew the participation of local officials including Mayor Michael Doria, Vice Mayor Jose Buslon, and Board Member Nathaniel Binlod. They expressed strong support for ongoing housing and social assistance programs that directly benefit Boholano families.
Community members said that the timely release of funds helps ease the burden on families recovering from disaster impacts. The P5,000 grants provide immediate resources to repair damaged homes or address urgent needs.
Continuing Outreach Across Bohol Towns
Earlier this week, the NHA distributed P21,780,000 to 395 residents of San Miguel town who were also affected by disasters. Sources confirmed that similar assistance will soon be extended to Sagbayan residents, with a scheduled distribution at the Sagbayan Gym on September 5 and 6.
Moreover, on September 15, the NHA plans to provide Emergency Housing Assistance Program aid to 842 victims in Dagohoy town. A total of P5.3 million will be released to these beneficiaries during the event at the local gymnasium.
These continuous efforts underscore the commitment to helping Bohol families rebuild and strengthen their homes against future calamities.
