Epson Philippines Fuels Innovation Through Meaningful Partnerships
Epson Philippines recently held the 16th edition of Fusion, its annual media appreciation event, from May 28 to 30 at the picturesque Misibis Bay Resort in Albay. This year’s gathering focused on forging meaningful partnerships to drive innovation, sustainability, and social impact. The event highlighted how collaboration can spark progress and create lasting value across industries.
Masako Kusama, president and director of Epson Philippines Corporation, opened the event with a keynote speech centered on the concept of EcoSynergy. This idea represents Epson’s commitment to blending innovation with purpose. “EcoSynergy reflects the idea that real progress happens when innovation moves in step with shared purpose,” Kusama said. “It’s how Epson brings people, technology, and sustainability together.”
Kusama also emphasized Epson’s guiding principle, Engineered for Good, which shapes product design, business operations, and environmental initiatives. She noted, “We focus on reducing energy use, extending product life, and choosing materials that are safer for the environment. Engineered for Good reflects the role we want to play in the world.”
Celebrating Milestones and Innovation
Noelle Gonzalez, head of marketing, shared updates on Epson’s market leadership across eight major product categories, highlighting strong double-digit growth. She also spoke about Epson’s ongoing battle against counterfeit ink products and introduced new customer-focused value-added services designed to enhance user experience.
Senior product marketing manager Russer Cabrera presented recent product and service innovations that promote smarter, greener business operations. Among the highlights were regional holograms to combat counterfeiting, an expanded CoverPlus warranty program, and new solutions for education and self-service systems. Cabrera also showcased Epson’s large-format printers tailored for textile and signage markets, reaffirming Epson’s dominance in these areas.
The event also introduced new leaders such as Julia Avila, OIC for corporate product marketing, and Ash Elshawbaki, senior manager for corporate, government, and channel sales. Their presence underscores Epson’s commitment to building stronger customer partnerships.
Driving Toward a Sustainable Future
Sustainability remained a central theme throughout Fusion 16. Epson’s sustainability champion, EJ Sulit, outlined the company’s global environmental roadmap. This includes ambitious goals like becoming carbon negative by 2050 and transitioning to 100% renewable energy across all global operations, including Epson’s largest manufacturing site in Batangas, Philippines.
Sulit also highlighted the ICLEAN Project, a partnership with WWF-Philippines in Monreal, Ticao Island. The project supports local waste management and introduced a plastic shredder that significantly boosts eco-brick production. “These eco-bricks each contain about 500 grams of plastic that might otherwise pollute marine environments,” Sulit explained. “The municipality now produces over 300 bricks monthly, showing how localized innovation can drive real change.”
Strengthening Media and Community Bonds
Ed Bonoan, head of sales, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the media for their unwavering support. “We’re grateful for your continued partnership in sharing our stories,” he remarked.
The three-day event featured various engaging activities, fostering camaraderie between media partners and Epson executives. Friendly competitions and team-building exercises allowed participants to celebrate shared goals, reinforcing the belief that collaboration is vital to shaping a responsible and innovative future.
