Erwin Tulfo to Serve as Bridge Among Senators in 20th Congress

Erwin Tulfo Commits to Unity in 20th Congress

Outgoing ACT-CIS Party-list Representative and Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo announced on Saturday, May 17, that he will act as the “bridge” connecting all 24 senators from diverse political backgrounds in the upcoming 20th Congress. Tulfo emphasized the importance of cooperation despite differing views, underscoring the need for unity among lawmakers.

During his proclamation speech, he appealed to both incumbent and incoming senators to set aside their political differences “for the sake of our nation and our people.” He said, “Let us work together to resolve our problems before us. We are not enemies. We are Filipinos no matter what political colors we believe.”

National Unity: A Foundation for Progress

Tulfo expressed his belief that national unity is the powerful force capable of guiding Filipinos through challenging times marked by economic hardship, social divides, and political tensions. He stated, “That is national unity.”

The 20th Congress will feature senators aligned with at least three main political groups: supporters of Marcos, supporters of Duterte, and those who identify with neither. Tulfo highlighted that unity should go beyond election season rhetoric, serving instead as the foundation for a strong and resilient nation.

“It is what binds the rich and the poor, the young and the old, the people from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao. It is what enables progress, justice, and peace,” he explained.

Bridging Differences for a Stronger Nation

Tulfo warned that failure to unite could hinder the achievement of long-standing goals aimed at improving the lives of every Filipino. “If we fail to unite now, we may not be able to achieve what our leaders from the past to the present have been working on to uplift the life of every Filipino citizen.”

As the newly elected senator, he pledged, “As your newly elected Senator, I commit to being a bridge, not a barrier. I will work with leaders from all parties—listen to voices from all sectors and prioritize laws and programs that will unite rather than further divide this nation.”

He encouraged collaboration across political lines to ensure that legislative efforts focus on unity and collective progress.
