Expanded Number Coding Scheme Suspended Amid Weather

Expanded Number Coding Scheme Suspended Due to Weather

MANILA — The expanded number coding scheme remains suspended for Wednesday, July 23, 2025, as Metro Manila continues to face severe weather conditions, local authorities confirmed. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced this suspension on Tuesday, emphasizing the ongoing safety concerns.

“Nananatiling suspendido ang pagpapatupad ng number scheme bukas, July 23, 2025 sa gitna pa rin ng masamang panahong nararanasan sa Metro Manila,” the MMDA stated in its advisory.

This marks the third consecutive day that the expanded number coding scheme has been put on hold, following persistent heavy rains affecting Metro Manila and nearby provinces. The decision aims to ease travel difficulties and ensure public safety amid the challenging weather.

Heavy Rainfall and Weather Alerts in Metro Manila

According to weather agencies, Metro Manila, along with Rizal, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, and parts of Bulacan and Batangas, remains under an orange rainfall warning as of 8 p.m. The warning indicates rainfall amounts ranging from 15 to 30 millimeters over the next three hours, which could lead to localized flooding and hazardous road conditions.

Residents are advised to stay alert and avoid non-essential travel as the weather persists. Local officials continue monitoring the situation closely, ready to implement further measures if necessary.

Tropical Depression Dante Develops East of Aurora

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area east of Aurora has intensified into Tropical Depression Dante, as reported by meteorological sources on Tuesday afternoon. The system was officially named around 2 p.m., signaling increased vigilance for weather disturbances.

In a 5 p.m. weather update, authorities noted that Tropical Depression Dante was located approximately 1,130 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. It is moving north-northwestward at about 20 kilometers per hour, bringing maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gusts reaching up to 55 km/h.

The development of Dante is expected to influence the weather patterns in the region, potentially prolonging rainy conditions. Citizens are urged to stay informed through official channels and prepare accordingly.
