Fair Weather Forecast in Metro Manila and Surrounding Areas
Metro Manila and most parts of the Philippines are set to enjoy fair weather conditions this Sunday, according to recent weather updates. The four-word keyphrase “fair weather forecast in” captures the hopeful outlook for many regions across the country.
Weather expert Veronica Torres shared in the 5 p.m. update Saturday that Metro Manila and much of Luzon will experience generally fair weather, although localized thunderstorms may still develop. This fair weather forecast in the capital and nearby areas points to a relatively calm day for residents.
Torres explained that the southwest monsoon, known locally as the habagat, will mainly bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Ilocos Region. Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms continuing through Sunday.
“In areas not affected by the southwest monsoon, expect hot and humid conditions from morning until noon,” Torres added, “with a higher chance of thunderstorms developing in the afternoon.” This pattern suggests residents should stay alert for sudden weather changes despite the overall fair conditions.
Severe Tropical Storm Podul and Low-Pressure Area Updates
Regarding tropical weather disturbances, severe tropical storm Podul was last tracked 2,085 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, currently outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). It carries maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts reaching up to 115 kph. The storm is moving slowly west-northwest.
Torres noted that Podul is expected to enter the PAR by Sunday evening or Monday morning. When it does, it will receive the local name “Goryo,” becoming the country’s seventh cyclone this year and the second in August. Fortunately, the storm is not forecasted to make a close approach to the Philippines, and its direct impact over the next five days remains unlikely.
Another weather system, a low-pressure area formerly known as Fabian, is located about 500 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan, also outside the PAR. This LPA is no longer expected to develop into a cyclone and will not directly affect any part of the country.
Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates as conditions can change. Meanwhile, the overall fair weather forecast in Metro Manila and other regions offers some relief amid the ongoing rainy season.
