Fair Weather in Luzon Amid Easterlies Impact
Generally fair weather is forecast across Luzon on Monday, with easterlies bringing overcast skies and rain to parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, local meteorological sources reported. The four-word keyphrase “fair weather in Luzon” appears early as officials emphasize stable conditions in the northern region despite disturbances elsewhere.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration explained that the easterlies—winds originating from the Pacific Ocean—are influencing weather patterns mainly in Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Community members said this results in varying weather conditions depending on the region.
Weather Outlook for Luzon
For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, fair weather will prevail throughout the day, according to weather specialists. However, partly cloudy skies with the usual late afternoon to evening rain showers or thunderstorms may develop, especially in inland areas.
“For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, we can expect generally fair weather today,” a weather expert noted, highlighting the calm conditions dominating the area.
Rain and Overcast Skies in Visayas and Mindanao
Meanwhile, the easterlies bring overcast skies and scattered thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas and parts of Mindanao, particularly in the Caraga Region. Officials reported a high chance of rain in these areas, urging residents to prepare for possible flooding and landslides.
“A high chance of rain is expected over these areas, so we should prepare for the possible threat of floods and landslides,” a local meteorologist advised, underscoring the need for caution.
Fair Conditions in Palawan and Other Regions
Fair weather is also expected in Palawan and the rest of the Visayas, including Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, and Central Visayas. Similarly, much of Mindanao, especially the Bangsamoro Region and Soccsksargen areas (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City), will experience stable conditions.
Though rains in the Visayas and Mindanao are expected to be short-lived, thunderstorm clouds may bring precipitation from late afternoon to evening, local weather observers explained.
Sea and Temperature Conditions
No gale warnings have been issued for any of the country’s seaboards. However, slight to moderate sea conditions with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters are anticipated, according to maritime sources.
