Farmer Runs Amok, Injures Police Officers in Agusan del Sur
CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Three police officers were injured when a farmer went on a rampage amid a family dispute in Sitio Guitas, Barangay Bunawan Brook, Bunawan town, Agusan del Sur province on Thursday, May 29.
According to local sources, the farmer, identified as Arman, 67, armed himself with a knife and became violent during the family feud. The event led to a confrontation with responding police officers. “Arman, 67, a father with knife that ran berserk, was subdued by our responding policemen, but three of our responders were injured,” said a police official familiar with the situation.
Police Officers Subdue Suspect Despite Injuries
Despite sustaining injuries, the three officers managed to restrain and arrest the suspect. Authorities confirmed that all family members involved are now safe and accounted for. The suspect was immediately transported to the Bunawan Municipal Police Station for proper processing and will face charges of direct assault on persons in authority.

The regional police chief awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting to the three injured officers: Police Executive Master Sergeant Ronaldremy L. Abastillas, Police Master Sergeant Frank Ayop Cercado, and Police Corporal Rysan Buhawe Dalayap. The officers were treated at Valentina Galido Plaza Memorial Hospital in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
In addition to the medals, financial assistance was provided to support the officers during their recovery. “I commend the swift response and bravery of our personnel in the face of danger,” said a senior police official. “We will ensure they receive the necessary assistance as they recover.”
