Deadly Road Crashes in Aklan and Antique
Four people lost their lives in separate road accidents in the provinces of Aklan and Antique. According to reports, the incidents involved two drivers and two passengers, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on these provincial roads.
In the town of New Washington, Aklan, a truck collided head-on with a tricycle, killing three individuals. Local authorities say the truck driver likely fell asleep while driving, causing the vehicle to cross into the opposite lane and crash into the tricycle.
The tricycle driver and his two passengers died at the scene, while four other passengers were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The truck driver is now in police custody and faces charges including reckless imprudence resulting in multiple deaths, property damage, and physical injuries.
Van-Bus Collision Results in Fatality
In a separate accident in Antique, a man died after the tourist van he was driving crashed into a bus just after 6 a.m. The van was traveling toward Pandan, while the bus was en route to Kalibo, Aklan.
Police reports indicate the van was speeding and veered into the opposite lane while navigating a curved section of the road, leading to the collision. The van driver suffered a fatal head injury, while the bus driver and nine passengers sustained injuries.
The bus driver has been taken into police custody as the investigation continues to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
