Tragic Accident Inside Pasig City Construction Site
A heartbreaking incident took place on Thursday, May 22, when a 15-year-old boy was accidentally run over by his father inside the construction site of the old Pasig City Hall in Barangay San Nicolas, Pasig City. Reports indicate the father was maneuvering a dump truck within the construction zone when the tragic event unfolded.
As he drove, the father suddenly felt the rear tires hit something. Concerned, he immediately stopped the vehicle to check what happened. To his horror, he discovered that the truck had struck his own son. Without hesitation, he called for help from a nearby co-worker, who promptly informed the authorities.
Emergency Response and Investigation Underway
Emergency responders from the Pasig Emergency Unit (PEU) quickly arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at the site. The father was subsequently taken into custody and transferred to the Vehicle Traffic Investigation Unit (VTIU) for further questioning.
The Pasig City Government has deployed additional emergency personnel to the location and expressed their condolences while offering support to the bereaved family. Community leaders said that the city is fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
Safety Measures to Be Reviewed
The Philippine National Police-Pasig City Police Station, working alongside the Pasig City Hall Construction Consortium (PCHCC), is conducting a thorough inquiry. The city government has emphasized the need for a mandatory review of all existing safety protocols within the construction site.
Officials assured the public, stating, “Rest assured that this is taken seriously and that safety within the construction site remains of utmost priority.” They further underscored that steps will be taken to prevent a similar tragedy from happening in the future.
