Filipino-Chinese Businessmen Urged to Uplift Economy
Filipino-Chinese businessmen in the country were strongly encouraged to uplift small and medium-sized businesses to boost the entire economy. During the oath-taking ceremony of officers for the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) on June 10, President Marcos challenged these business leaders to “lead with clarity.”
The President emphasized the importance of focusing not only on large enterprises but also on the vital role of small and medium-sized businesses. “I challenge you now to lead with clarity. Steer our industries towards innovative strategies that are globally competitive, sustainable, and ready for the future,” Marcos said. He added, “But your leadership should not only focus on large enterprises. It is just as crucial that you empower small and medium-sized businesses. By uplifting them, you are also uplifting the entire economy and the entire nation.”
Honoring Legacy and Strengthening Partnerships
President Marcos also urged the FFCCCII officers to honor the deep-rooted legacy that connects the Philippines and China. He encouraged them to inspire future generations to uphold this shared heritage, which he described as “one of our greatest strengths.”
He highlighted that the federation is uniquely positioned to deepen the Philippines’ international partnership with China. “Stronger ties mean better trade, greater investments, and enhanced collaboration. Use your platform to showcase the Philippines as a dependable partner for economic growth,” Marcos said.
Decades of Commitment to Progress
The President praised the federation for its long-standing dedication to national progress since its establishment in 1954. “True progress does not happen overnight. It is built patiently and purposefully by those who believe in something greater than themselves,” he remarked.
Marcos also noted how the FFCCCII has played a crucial role in bridging divides across sectors and ethnic lines. “In all these endeavors, the FFCCCII has been a reliable foundation for bridging differences between communities, laying the groundwork for growth, and harnessing the strength of collective action,” he added.
New Leadership and Ongoing Initiatives
During the event, the President administered the oath of office to 265 newly elected officers of the FFCCCII. The federation continues to advocate for business and economic growth while supporting various philanthropic and civic projects.
Among its recent achievements are the lighting of the historic Jones Bridge and ongoing beautification efforts in the Binondo Chinatown district. These initiatives reflect the federation’s commitment to preserving heritage while fostering progress.
