Filipino Online Live Hosts Gain Spotlight in China
Last November, I ventured into online live selling on TikTok, driven by the growing demand for such gigs. This new role felt like an extension of my usual hosting jobs, but with a twist—I was selling products live. What mattered most was that I earned a talent fee. Soon, I became part of a recognized TikTok agency that now manages the majority of my live selling events. However, I remain open to other opportunities and never signed an exclusive contract.

Their positive feedback recently opened doors for me to join a unique matchmaking product event in Shenzhen, China. A Manila-based agency handpicked several online live hosts, and I, alongside fellow online personality Abbie Tolentino, represented their accredited TikTok agency. We proudly shouted, “Philippines!” as we stood among other participants.
Introducing Hosts and Brands at the Shenzhen Event
The event dedicated an entire day to introducing the online live hosts and the brands involved. Each host presented themselves before company executives and staff, with interpreters assisting as most attendees spoke Mandarin. We engaged with brand representatives to understand their products better. Afterward, the organizers asked us to select items for our upcoming live selling sessions.
Abbie chose beauty products, while I opted for lifestyle items, including a hair trimmer popular in Australia. The following day, our live events were broadcast simultaneously from different studios—bringing live selling from China directly to the Philippines. This unique setup showcased the dynamic nature of cross-border e-commerce.
Visiting Factories and Promoting Products
During the event, special attention was given to a well-known collagen drink. Abbie and I were invited to tour its factory, which deepened our appreciation for the product. We also filmed promotional reels and continued with our live selling routines. This experience reinforced the idea that sales opportunities are limitless, regardless of location.

The success of this event highlights the growing importance of e-commerce and online live selling in our daily lives.
