Filipinos Access Free Legal Advice Through eGovPH Online Application

Government Launches eGovPH for Legal Assistance

Filipinos can now obtain legal advice conveniently through the government’s eGovPH online application. This platform offers a direct way for citizens to consult lawyers about their legal questions anytime. According to sources familiar with the matter, “May sasagot na abogado,” assuring that a lawyer will respond to inquiries promptly.

The Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) has committed to supporting this initiative by assigning legal professionals to handle queries received via the app. “Mag-aasign kami at least two lawyers and two staff,” they confirmed, ensuring a dedicated team manages the service.

Ensuring Reliable Service and Accessibility

The PAO emphasized the importance of having staff on duty to maintain uninterrupted service. “Hindi magkakaroon ng serbisyo kung walang naka-duty,” they said, highlighting that someone must always be available to answer questions. This approach addresses the challenge that not all Filipinos have studied the law and that people need timely updates on both new and existing legislation.

“Napaka-importante kasi kapag may tanong sa batas ay sasagot agad dahil hindi naman lahat ng Filipino ay nag-aral ng batas at ‘yung mga bago at lumang batas kailangan ipaalam natin sa ating mga kababayan,” the sources added, underlining the need for accessible legal information.

eGovPH Enhances Government Service Delivery

Launched by the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) in October last year, the eGovPH app aims to boost transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in government services. It offers various online platforms for business registration, tax payments, and access to public documents, among others.

One DICT official explained that the app’s goal is to simplify the way citizens interact with government agencies, making essential services more reachable and user-friendly. Integrating legal consultation into this platform marks a significant step in providing comprehensive support to Filipinos nationwide.

How to Use the eGovPH Application

Citizens interested in seeking legal advice can download the eGovPH app on their smartphones or access it through its official website. Once logged in, users can submit their legal questions and receive responses from assigned PAO lawyers.

This service is designed to be swift and reliable, offering an alternative to traditional hotline calls. It ensures that legal guidance is just a few clicks away, reducing barriers to justice and helping Filipinos better understand their rights and obligations.

The Future of Legal Support in the Philippines

The introduction of legal assistance through the eGovPH online application represents a promising advancement in government support services. By providing accessible, real-time legal advice, the government empowers citizens to make informed decisions and promotes greater awareness of the law.

Community leaders say this initiative could serve as a model for integrating other essential services into digital platforms, making government assistance more efficient and inclusive.
