Fire Engulfs Happyland in Tondo, Manila Slum Area
A massive fire is currently raging through Happyland, a slum community in Tondo, Manila. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) confirmed that the fire has escalated to “Task Force Bravo-Charlie,” signaling a serious emergency response.
The blaze reportedly began at 9:44 a.m. along Happyland Road 10 in Tondo, consuming residential structures in the area. Firefighters immediately raised alarms in rapid succession: the first alarm at 9:47 a.m., followed by the second at 9:48 a.m., and the third alarm by 9:55 a.m.
Escalating Emergency Response
As the fire intensified, authorities raised the alarm level to fourth and fifth at 10:10 a.m. Shortly after, at 10:17 a.m., the situation escalated to “Task Force Alpha.” By 10:57 a.m., the BFP declared “Task Force Bravo-Charlie,” calling for 28 to 32 fire trucks to respond.
Despite the swift deployment of resources, the fire remains uncontrolled at this time. Local officials have not yet released information regarding the extent of damage or casualties.
The community and emergency responders continue to battle the fire amid challenging conditions. Sources said firefighting efforts are ongoing, with no clear estimate yet on when the blaze will be contained.
