Fire Inspector Hiring Clarified Amid Viral Post
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has clarified misinformation circulating on social media about the hiring of professional teachers for Fire Inspector positions. The viral post claiming that professional teachers can join the fire service through “lateral entry” is “unofficial and inaccurate,” officials said on June 4.
The BFP warned the public against trusting this message, stressing that the Fire Inspector vacancy mentioned does not follow the recruitment claims made online. A Fire Inspector earns a monthly salary of P49,528, but the BFP emphasized that such hiring announcements must come only from official sources.
“We do not support or endorse the sharing of unofficial information related to our recruitment, promotion, or placement processes,” a BFP spokesperson said. They also noted that the viral post did not originate from any official BFP platform and should not be considered reliable.
Official Recruitment for Fire Officer 1 Positions Open
On June 4, the BFP National Headquarters formally announced the opening of the recruitment and selection process for 270 vacant Fire Officer 1 (FO1) positions. Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree and meet specific physical and age qualifications.
Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years old. Height requirements include a minimum of 5 feet 2 inches for men and 5 feet for women. Additionally, an applicant’s weight must fall within five kilograms above or below the standard weight corresponding to their height, age, and sex.
The BFP encourages interested applicants to follow official channels for updates and cautions against relying on unverified social media posts. Local leaders and government sources urge the public to stay informed through legitimate announcements.
