BAI Reports First H5N9 Bird Flu Detection
In Camarines Sur, the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) has confirmed the first case of the H5N9 bird flu virus. The virus was found in ducks from the town of Camaligan.

Because of this, authorities conducted culling and proper disposal of potentially infected ducks on May 6. These measures aim to prevent the virus from spreading further among local poultry.
Health Risks and Precautions
The BAI explained that while H5N9 is deadly to birds, global health agencies have stated it does not pose danger to humans. Despite this reassurance, the Department of Health has advised residents to remain cautious and avoid direct contact with affected birds.
