Flight School in Zambales Under Heightened Monitoring After Crash
MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) announced on Saturday that a flight school in Zambales will remain under heightened monitoring following a recent plane crash. Despite lifting the suspension on its operations, the agency emphasized the importance of ongoing oversight to ensure safety.
Caap initially suspended all flight training activities of Topflite Academy of Aviation Inc. (TAAI) after a Cessna 172 training plane (tail number RP-C2211) crashed near Iba Airport on July 11. The accident injured four people aboard, including the flight instructor and three student pilots.
Suspension Lifted but Monitoring Continues
Effective August 6, Caap lifted the suspension on TAAI’s operations. However, the flight school must submit corrective action plans addressing the agency’s inspection findings within the specified period. This requirement aims to prevent future incidents and improve overall safety standards.
“All pilots involved in the incident remain under suspension pending the outcome of the investigation,” Caap stated. The agency also confirmed that TAAI will stay under strict surveillance to ensure full compliance with aviation safety regulations.
Details of the Incident
The aircraft was conducting a training flight that originated from Subic. After the crash near Iba Airport, all four occupants were treated for their injuries and are now safe, sources said. The Civil Aviation Authority continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the accident.
Local authorities noted that the presence of heightened monitoring reflects Caap’s commitment to maintaining safe flight operations in the country. Flight schools, especially those involved in accidents, undergo thorough inspections to uphold aviation safety standards.
