DOJ Urged to Act on Flood-Control Projects Anomalies
Newly appointed Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to issue an immigration lookout bulletin targeting individuals linked to alleged anomalies in flood-control projects. This move aims to prevent those implicated from leaving the country while investigations proceed, officials reported.
Dizon named several persons of interest, including Assistant Regional Director Henry Alcantara and contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya. Their alleged involvement in irregularities within various flood-control initiatives nationwide has triggered renewed scrutiny from government agencies, sources said.
Luxury Vehicles Seized Amid Investigation
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confirmed it has confiscated all 12 luxury vehicles owned by contractor Sarah Discaya’s family. This action followed a court-issued search warrant tied to ongoing probes into the flood-control projects anomalies, local leaders noted.
The seizure took place at the Pasig City headquarters of St. Gerrard Construction General Contractor and Development Corp., a company owned by the Discaya family. Authorities carried out the court-ordered search on Tuesday, intensifying the investigation’s momentum, community members said.
President Marcos Calls for Integrity Among Officials
During the oath-taking ceremony of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) officials at Malacañang, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged the newly elected leaders to serve with unwavering integrity. He emphasized the urgent need to expose and address irregularities in government projects, including those related to flood-control initiatives, officials reported.
“The nation now, more than ever, needs leaders committed to ending corrupt practices in government,” Marcos declared, underscoring the critical role of transparency and accountability in public service, sources said.
